Live from Montreal

So we made it to Montreal, well now I am in Quebec, in Laurentians, in Saint Adel. Simon’s toe did turn out to be infected so he is now on antibotics, so the time going to the doctor was not wasted. We made it Montreal by about 3 on Thursday and parked and found Greg in his lab and Mcgill and proceeded to drink several expensive beer and some swanky cafe before finding a pub with a happy hour and GIANT burgers where we drank several more cheaper beer. Then myself and Simon spent Friday hanging out in Montreal and did some walking and some shopping. We had done all the touristy sight seeing on a previous trip so this time we mainly walked around.  Then we headed towards our hotel and on the way stopped in another small city to do some outlet shopping. It was very ski chalet style buildings but the Rockport shoe store proved to be a great stop. Both myself and Simon found shoes so yay. Then I found some awesome pin stripe pants at another outlet so shopping was accomplished.

Now I am sitting in the lobby of what is supposed to be a four star hotel, but sucks in my mind. We are located in the bowels of the building at the very end of floor H. Think futurama, when they did the Titanic episode and Fry and the crew were located on the fiesta deck. That is where we are. It is about a 10 minute walk or more to get the main part of the hotel where we can take an elevator to the lobby and the rest of civilization. Of course there are several convention meeting things happening here, which is why we are located in the bowels of the building but oh well. And of course Simon is being good and going to all of the stupid conference. Our room is extremely small, most of the outlets do not work in it and you can’t get wireless because we are so underground that the signal can’t be picked up.

It is pretty outside so I think I will sign off and go check out the great out doors and take some pictures. Hopefully I can find my way back to the depths of hell I mean the hotel 🙂

  1. Robyn says:

I was just in Sainte-Adele last weekend to celebrate my wedding anniversary! We went to a hotel spa on Route 117! Where are you staying? What are you doing up north?

I live in Montreal! I wish I’d known you were passing through!

  2. We were there for a conference for Simon. We stayed at the Hotel Le Chantecler. We were just there for a few days, nice area. We usually try and hit the Laurentians in the Spring for Skiing.
Yay a knitter in Montreal. Next time we visit I will be sure to let you know. Our friend works at McGill so I am sure we will back again.
